Lady J’s is an exclusive bridal studio based in Sunridge Village, Port Elizabeth. Chantel Fryer is the owner of Lady J’s and along with her store assistants, Elise and Marlene, intends to make your dreams come true. Fittings are by appointment only, to ensure you receive our full attention and so we are able to accommodate whoever will be attending your fitting with you. Chantel Fryer is the proud owner of Lady J’s Bridal Studio, the result of a courageous leap of faith to pursue her dream. The studio is named after her daughter, Jenayd, her greatest inspiration and muse.
Jenayd’s strength, determination & passion for life, regardless of all challenges she faces, is what gives Chantel the motivation and drive to make a success of the studio. Chantel considers Jenayd to be a strong little force to be reckoned with and hopes in future that she will take over the Bridal Studio with pride.
Two other lovely ladies, Elise & Marlene complete the Lady J’s Team. They have been Chantel’s ‘cheerleaders’ throughout the journey who she calls as her Angels. “Angles help us visualize our dreams and then find ways to help make them come true.”
Proudly based in the Sunridge Village Shopping Centre on the western side of Port Elizabeth, in the peaceful and leafy suburb of Sunridge Park, Lady J’s Bridal Studio might be new to the Bridal Industry but intend to be the most renowned bridal store in town. Lady J’s boasts a collection of affordable, good quality gowns available to rent or buy. Lady J’s also offers a unique service to previous brides allowing them the opportunity & a safe platform to sell their Previously-Worn wedding dresses.
At Lady J’s Bridal Studio all consultations and fittings are strictly on a personal 1-on-1 basis, allowing us to fully consider the bride’s requirements and attend to her every need. The bride is given the time to find her perfect gown in a luxurious and comfortable, expertly designed environment. We understand that the time needed to find that special wedding dress is of the utmost importance and we guarantee total privacy throughout the agreed time of consultation. Typically brides require at least 1 - 2 hours to find ‘the perfect dress’.
Lady J’s are also proud stockists of the Anella Wedding Shoes range and have a stunning variety to choose from after all every bride should have the perfect pair of heels to compliment her gown. Besides gorgeous wedding dresses, Lady J’s also offer an assortment of accessories including the perfect costume jewellery to match your gown for your big day. We can dress you from head to toe.

Q: What does a fitting cost?
A: We charge a standard rate of R150 per hour – you can fit as many dresses as you can in the time provided. All fittings are strictly by appointment. Any late coming will be taken off your fitting time. A follow-up fitting will be R100 per hour and will be credited towards your dress price should you decide to rent or buy from Lady J’s.
Q: What if I do not show up for my fitting?
A: As much as we understand life happens, all we ask is for a courtesy call should you be running late or if you cannot attend. We require a minimum 48 hours notification to cancel an appointment. We have a waiting list of brides, especially requesting fittings on Saturdays and if you cancel timeously we can possibly find a replacement for your time slot.
Q: Who should attend the fitting with me?
A: We suggest a max of 2-3 guests. Bigger audiences cause confusion and can be overwhelming when choosing a wedding dress. We will offer one follow-up fitting in order for you to share the experience with more people (follow-up fee of R100 & will be credited towards your dress price should you decide to rent or buy from Lady J’s).
We regrettably do not allow children under the age of 10.
Q: Are all your dresses new?
A: We hire and sell BRAND NEW and PRE-LOVED wedding dresses. The majority of the dresses in our studio are brand new. We only keep pre-loved dresses if they are in mint condition – in order to accommodate brides with lower budgets.
Q: What is the price range of your dresses?
A: The majority of our dresses are priced between R 2500 – R 10 000.00 to hire and R 5000 – R 15000 to buy. All depending on the dress, design, fabrics & accessories on the dress. Our dresses are high quality well-manufactured dresses – we do not import inexpensive low-grade dresses. We offer high-quality dresses.
We do keep a smaller collection of dresses – either SALE dresses or PRE-LOVED dresses priced between R 2000 & R 10 000. These dresses are all in a great condition. We do acknowledge that it is your choice to decide how much money you want to spend on a wedding dress and keep these garments in order to offer you quality at a price you may prefer to pay.
Q: Am I allowed to take photos?
A: No, We acknowledge that the majority of guests only want to capture the moment when taking a snapshot. Unfortunately, when allowing photos, we expose ourselves to people who deliberately steal our intellectual property. We take serious offense when this happens. We therefore do not allow photographs – dresses can be viewed on our website or by appointment. Please feel free to discuss this with us should you have any questions.
Q: What should I wear for my fitting?
A: Wear comfortable underwear. We suggest a full panty & a strapless bra. If you have your Wedding shoes already bought please bring them along as well.
Q: Do you hire/sell dresses?
A: We hire and sell dresses. The majority of the dresses in our studio are brand new. We only keep previously worn dresses if they are in mint condition – in order to accommodate brides with lower budgets.
Q: Do you alter wedding dresses?
A: Yes we can offer certain in-house alterations at an additional fee depending on alterations required.
Q: Do you buy wedding dresses previously worn?
A: No, we do not buy pre-loved wedding dresses but we do offer is that we sell your dress on your behalf at an agreed price & commission percentage suitable to both parties. So your dress hangs in our store & you collect the money once it has sold or unless you decide otherwise.
Please note we reserve the right to accept or decline pre-loved dresses & will only accept good quality gowns into the Lady J’s Collection.
Q: Do you custom make wedding dresses?
A: Yes, We do have On-Call Designers to assist to custom make designs should you not find your dream dress from our current collection. We will set up an appointment with 1 of our local fashion designers to discuss your options.
